Integrated Monitoring Control and Metering
The RTW 31900 is an integrated surround monitoring loudspeaker controller and surround sound analyser and features the renowned level and phase displays of the RTW Vectorscope range plus a comprehensive multi-channel monitoring controller, managed from a stylish desktop remote control.The 31900 is the complete audio monitoring tool for all Transmission, Production, Post-production and QA applications, connecting to analogue, digital (AES3), Dolby E and Dolby Digital sources and delivering these to both analogue or digital loudspeaker monitoring systems. Monitoring Control The 31900 features a multi-channel audio router that accepts the 16 analogue and 16 digital input channels and the outputs of the optional SDI, Dolby E and Dolby Digital decoders and connects them, in the required layout, to the metering and monitoring control sections. The monitoring control section works from stereo up to 7.1 and provides the calibrated multi-channel level control, MONO, DIM, Mutes, Solos and Swaps essential for effective surround sound monitoring. Metering and Analysis The metering and analysis section of the 31900 provides the visual monitoring for which RTW is world famous. The RTW “house” surround sound analyser display gives an instantly readable overview of the integrity of the surround stem being monitored. Confirming at a glance that all is well or instantly highlighting where a problem lies when one or more of the channels is “out-of-order”. This is supported by a range of additional displays that include a 10-way phase display, stereo and multi-channel peak program meters, loudness meters, dialnorm metering for correctly setting Dolby encoders plus AES3 status monitors, spectrum analysis and two or four-channel vectorscope. Dolby E and Dolby Digital Monitoring The optional SDI de-embedder accepts both HD and SD SDI video streams unwrapping all 16 channels that these digital video connections can carry, connecting them to the 31900’s audio router for monitoring and metering. Similarly, the optional Dolby E and Dolby Digital decoder will decode an 8-channel Dolby E broadcast distribution or Dolby Digital delivery stream to its component surround channels that can be routed internally to the monitoring control and metering analysis sections of the 31900. Flat-screen Delay Compensation The 31900 includes 50msec delay per channel that can be used to compensate for the inherent delays in all flat-screen monitors or to time-align speakers in the monitoring system. The 31900 platform also includes a microphone input and test-tone generator for speaker system calibration plus GPI inputs for external control and GPI outputs for alarms and triggers. Models
