World Cup fever? We’re having a ball at Aspen Media, we’ve thrown on the red and white face paint, found the pitch for the plasma screen, learnt the words to “We are the Champions” so here we go, here we go, here we go!

In our defence and to stop the manager kicking off, we've just netted a new line, Jünger Audio, Stagetec was a winner at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and we've got a new player in our team!

 Fingers crossed and kind regards

Stagetec Performs at Radio 1's Big Weekend

Trucks from BBC Radio BBC Radio OB Sound 6Outside Broadcast's new fleet each kitted out with Stagetec consoles or routers hit the road recently on their way to  Bangor, Gwynedd for Radio 1's Big Weekend, the first major British music festival of 2010. The live action, interviews and activities were covered on Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, BBC Three and via the television Red Button.

Two of the four stages used Stagetec Nexus as the stage delivery system: the Main stage with a line up that included Florence and The Machine, Rihanna, Pendulum and Cheryl Cole who flew in from the Cannes film festival to perform in front of Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton; while on the In New Music We Trust stage Faithless, Ellie Goulding and Crystal Castles were just a few of the acts performing.

The main mix from the Dance stage, where DJs Chris Moyles and Tim Westwood went head to head and featured Tiesto, and the Live Lounge stage where Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley presented acoustic bands for her show, were each handled by Stagetec Aurus consoles installed in two of the new General Purpose trucks. Each mix was fed to the Hub truck near the Main stage where all the stages were brought together for transmission on Radio 1. A Sub truck was linked to the Hub, shipping different mixes to Radio 1Xtra.

The third GP truck tasked with looking after compliance, used a mixture of editing systems for removing the more colourful language before transmission. This was then played back to the Hub via the Aurus and Nexus system.

Jünger Audio's Level Magic - Loudness Controlled

Jünger Audio has been developing and building high-quality digital audio dynamics processors for twenty years in its facility in Berlin, a few minutes down the road from Stagetec, and we are delighted to announce that it has appointed Aspen Media as its exclusive UK distributor.

Jünger Audio's flagship is LEVEL MAGIC loudness control. So where you're getting nasty level changes, at advert breaks or the sudden surge of the vuvuzelas at the World Cup games, LEVEL MAGIC will adjust these automatically without any of the usual effects or artefacts - no breathing, no pumping, no spectral changes, just well controlled loudness and peak levels. This means that you can confidently walk away leaving the loudness control to your LEVEL MAGIC enabled device and get on with something much more iB46 Digital Audio Level Processornteresting like watching the next England game perhaps.

LEVEL MAGIC is available for both stereo and surround to suit many different applications; production, transmission, IPTV, satellite and cable from a range of sources that include Analogue, AES, SDI, HD-SDI and Dolby E & D. It can also be configured and remotely controlled via a web interface – and level detection can, if required, comply with the ITU’s BS.1770 loudness control specification.

We like to bring you the news when it's hot off the press so we haven't had time to add the Jünger Audio range to our website yet. However you can read all about the company and its products here www.junger-audio.com

Kirsty Joins the Team

Kirsty Umney joined us recently to help with the accounts and administration here at Aspen Media HQ.Kirsty was an Office Manager and PA to the Directors in her previous role so we think she's going to keep us on our toes!

Kirsty has a son Jack who's 13, a daughter Maddy who's 9, two dogs, two chickens and her hands full by all accounts. Kirsty's not shy where hard work is concerned, she's helping a friend dig out a menage in her spare time. But for relaxation Kirsty's learning to play the piano and is working her way up the grades with an exam in a week or two's time.

She likes a chat so there's a good chance that she'll be giving you a ring soon to introduce herself, to let you know about upcoming events or to find out how you are and if we can be of help. Listen out for her call.

If you would like information about any of the products we supply why not give Kirsty a call and introduce yourself on  01296 681313, you'll be glad you did! Alternatively feel free to email touch@aspen-media.com
