When you already make one of the best microphone pre-amps in the industry, it's a tough challenge to make further improvements to the sonic quality and add new remote control technology.
But Grace Design have done both.
A key component in these developments is that the m802 features balanced audio signal paths throughout, giving increased dynamic range, improved transparency and overall sonic quality; but most importantly, increasing the immunity from the noise invariably generated by the control components and processors. The 802R design also includes new high-current output drivers to enable connection to ultra-long cable runs, driving in to loads down to 50ohms, ensuring this sonic quality is retained at the console or workstation input.

Alongside this remarkable sonic quality, the m802 remote control facility enables control from ProTools HD, compatible MIDI controllers or consoles or Grace Design's own 802RCU desktop remote.
The m802 is now also controllable from any PC or Mac via a optional control application.
Both the m802 itself and the RCU (Remote Control Unit) incorporate high contrast, easy to read backlit LCD displays which indicate output peak level plus the settings for channel gain, phase/polarity and phantom power. While the data entry control will select the channel to be controlled and adjust gain and toggle the phase and phantom power functions.
The system enables the creation of channel groups which can be controlled collectively so that gain changes can be made to all the channels in the stereo or multi-channel group while maintaining the balance between them.
Naturally the m802R can be controlled from its front panel, but equally effectively from the m802RCU, which provides precisely the same set of functions.
The MIDI connection allows control of the m802 from either Protools HD - emulating the functionality of the Digidesign PRE microphone pre-amp; any compatible MIDI controller.
So these control capabilities and the extraordinary audio quality of the m802R make it the most remarkable and flexible microphone pre-amp on the market - probably.
